School is back after the snow day.

Note: Topics #5 & #6 have been assigned as a single unit. There will not be a unit test for these sections as we are working toward the final examination now. Essay #3 is due in the last week before Christmas. Essay #4 is an in-class paper that will be given in the last week of the course; you may prepare this paper in advance but cannot refer to notes when writing this paper. Topic 5 & 6 questions will be collected in two installments - up to #42 will be handed in on Thursday, December 21. #43-89 will be submitted on Monday, January 22.

The Unit Test for Topic 4 and due date for work is next Monday. (Test will be 70 multiple choice questions, 5 map items, and 2 out of 4 long answer questions at 10 marks each. The total is, therefore, out of 95 marks).

The Middle Ages Unit Test is on Monday. (As usual, the first section is closed-book, with 10 image identification items - mostly titles of works and cities where they can be found, though a couple might ask for names of artists. There will also be 10 items identifying architectural features, 40 multiple choice questions, 3 longish answer questions requiring that you interpret illustrations at 5 marks each, and an essay question valued at 6 for composition and 2 x 6 for content. The total value of the test is, therefore, 103 marks.)

Expect the unit test for this unit to be in about a week. (This will include around 45 multiple choice questions, 5 definitions at 2 marks each, and 4 long answer questions from a selection of 6 at 6 marks each. The total value of the test will be around 79 marks).

  • Friday, November 24 - Hand in Savage Christmas assignment. Take up p. 116. Discuss Japanese Internment – compare to Japanese treatment of Allied prisoners. Assignment: Holocaust deniers claim that this genocide never happened. In a short composition, after doing some additional research, explain what evidence exists to prove that the Holocaust is a historical fact. 10 marks. Due Monday.

  • Tuesday, November 7 - Faith in Numbers video. Note: This is a quirky item that deals with how change occurs in history and covers more than just the Middle Ages period. Though filmed in the early 1980's it is still highly relevant.
